This is truly one of those sad situations where history was lost.  I remember around 2014 or so, taking a small tour with the Bergen County historical society leader and he said this is the most under represented Revolutionary spot in the United States, considering its historical significance.

This is the building he was referring to; the shame of it is the building they built in its place was smaller and was just torn down last year. It was located by the end of
Main Street across from Poors Tavern today and was close to the Church on the Greens Cemetery.  Washington did setup headquarters there during the Revolution and the troops were camped out all over the Church on the Green and the Court House area for a time when fleeing the British from New York City.

After World War II, everyone just wanted to move on and many of the historical buildings throughout Hackensack were taken down.

This article in the Bergen Evening Record June 9, 1950 celebrating the half century mark of the 20th century tells the story of the building being “recently torn down”, now almost 70 years later, we wouldn’t even know it was ever there if it was not for
this article.
